Description from the seller
Aton 2018 represents the pinnacle expression of Pinot Noir according to Elena Walch, a prestigious Grand Cuvée born from a rigorous selection of the best grapes from high-altitude vineyards of South Tyrol. This first vintage was produced in just 2,788 bottles, a feature that further enhances its appeal to enthusiasts and collectors.
The grapes come from plots located between 400 and 600 meters above sea level, in the Glen and Barleith areas, characterized by complex soils predominantly clayey and calcareous, with marly residues. Harvesting is done manually with careful selection of the grapes.
The aging is particularly long and structured: 12 months in used barrique, 11 months in steel, and a further 15 months in bottle, contributing to the wine's complexity and aging potential. Falstaff
In the glass it presents a deep, bright ruby red. The bouquet expresses small forest fruits, accompanied by hints of licorice and light smoky notes. On the palate it combines structure and elegance, with a marked mineral component, fine and fresh tannins, and a long, spicy finish. The 2018 vintage stands out in particular for its structure, elegance and finesse.
The 2018 vintage has received important international accolades: 96 points from Falstaff, 94 points from James Suckling, 93 points from Wine Spectator, the prestigious Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso and the top recognition Four Viti from Vitae.
