Description from the seller
CHINA. Sinkiang. 1 Fen (5 Li). c.1960.
- Value: 1 Fen (5 Li).
- Year: c.1960.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: Xinjiang Province Mint; One Fen per Yuan; Guangxu Yuanbao. Reverse: Imperial dragon without inscription.
- Grade: MS63 BN (PCGS).
Coin inspired by the designs of Sinkiang coins from the reign of Emperor Guangxu. The obverse reproduces traditional Chinese legends indicating the province of Xinjiang, the value equivalent to 1 Fen (5 Li), and the Guangxu reference, accompanied by small floral motifs. The reverse features a vigorous imperial dragon in a classical style, finely engraved on a smooth field, evoking the provincial coinages of the late Qing dynasty. The specimen preserves an attractive brown patina typical of the BN designation, with abundant original luster, well-defined relief, and clean fields with very slight surface marks, fully in line with the MS63 grade. Although this is not an official circulating issue, these modern fantasy coins were produced for the numismatic market and are valued for the quality of the striking and for faithfully reproducing emblematic designs of imperial Chinese coinage.
