Silver 1/10 Gulden coin minted for the Dutch East Indies during the final months of World War II. The obverse features the portrait of Queen Wilhelmina looking to the right, in a sober, realistic style, surrounded by the legend bearing her title. The reverse shows the crowned coat of arms of the Netherlands flanked by the face value, with the date at the bottom and a balanced heraldic-inspired composition. This specimen, preserved at grade MS66, displays very intense original luster, sharp relief, and clean fields with minimal contact marks, characteristics typical of a piece of extraordinary quality. These issues were minted at the Utrecht mint to reestablish monetary circulation in the Dutch East Indies after the Japanese occupation, constituting an interesting testimony of the final period of Dutch colonial administration.
