Description from the seller
Very special butterfly created with two large slices of pink amethyst geodes.
This sculpture, very ornamental, was created with a metal support painted pink/bronze and the two slices of geode were mounted as if to create the wings of a butterfly.
Pink amethyst is a variety of amethyst whose pink color owes itself to traces of manganese and iron. These impurities add a pink tone to the natural violet light of amethyst.
The formation of amethyst occurs through the crystallization process of silicates. Pink amethyst, much rarer, forms when manganese and iron ions are present during the crystallization process of amethyst. These ions join the crystal lattice of amethyst and alter its natural color.
The presence of these elements is often linked to the properties of the soil and rocks in the area where pink amethyst forms. For example, the presence of manganese is often associated with acidic soils and the presence of iron with volcanic rocks.
