Frame - Gilt wood - Antica 1700 - Gold Leaf

In this auction, an antique wooden frame dating to the early 1700s, richly decorated and with finishes in gold leaf. Despite its age, it retains an extraordinary gilding. Signs of antiquity and craquelure are observable, as well as ancient restorations, retouchings, and earlier repairs. The surface is in excellent conservation condition with no woodworms; there are very tiny losses of stucco, but they characterize its preciousness and authenticate its antiquity. The hanger is wrought iron, contemporary and original, as is the ring. It is simply a precious object, of notable importance and visual appeal. The frame is ready to house an important oil on canvas or any old painting, a portrait, or antiquities. Congratulations to the winner of this auction.
