A silver 1 Qirsh coin minted for Egypt under the sovereignty of the Ottoman sultan Abdul Hamid II, with the characteristic imperial tughra occupying the center of the obverse, surrounded by an elaborate composition of military trophies and Ottoman-style vegetal branches. The reverse presents the face value and the year of reign in Arabic numerals framed by a laurel crown, with a balanced and elegant layout. The specimen retains sharp reliefs and a residual attractive lustre typical of a coin with no circulating wear. It is a representative issue of Egyptian monetary circulation during the late decades of Ottoman rule.
