A handwritten letter on a double sheet, autographed by Alphonse Karr and linked to Emmanuel de Las Cases, titled “L.A.S remerciant son destinataire pour l'aide apporté à sa fille,” dating from 1842 and measuring 19 × 12.5 cm in very good condition.
Description from the seller
"Envelope Letter" Handwritten, signed on one page on a double sheet.
Emmanuel de Las Cases is best known for being one of Napoleon I's most faithful companions, right up to his death.
He published "Memoirs of Saint Helena," a collection of conversations with the emperor during his exile.
Letter written 3 months before his death. A "trembling" signature is recognizable, certainly due to his advanced age. It would seem that he dictated this letter so that it would be readable.
- The author sends his most heartfelt thanks to the recipient for the letter he wrote to his daughter.
- He explains that his daughter simply wished to interest the recipient in their affair and obtain valuable advice, but that the care and the recipient's efforts far exceeded their expectations.
- The author says he is distressed by the trouble he may have caused the recipient and hopes to thank him in person soon, if circumstances permit.
