Description from the seller
Ubu Underground Magazine 38.8 x 27 cm, numerous illustrations in the text. Guido Crepax comic on the back cover.
First historic issue of the UBU magazine, iconic title of the underground scene and Italian counterculture of the early seventies. Conceived as a meeting point between radical essays, visual arts, and independent comics, the publication stands out for a strong provocative charge and a total rejection of mainstream editorial canons.
The magazine drew on historical contributions from Fernanda Pivano, Timothy Leary, Corrado Augias, Oreste del Buono, John Sinclair and Gianni E. Simonetti, alongside the unmistakable graphic line of Robert Crumb. Through acidic texts, investigations into psychedelic culture, avant-garde comics, and unfiltered social analyses, UBU 1 presents itself as a true manifesto of expressive independence and counter-information of the era.
Light yellowing at the top of the back cover and the preceding page. Small tear at the bottom of the spine.
