Description from the seller
The NAD 7240PE is a legendary AM/FM stereo receiver from the late 1980s (produced around 1987-1989). The device is known in the audio world for its minimalist, typically gray "plain Jane" appearance, but delivers exceptional performance that is far greater than the specifications on paper suggest. The receiver is in fact a combination of the well-known NAD 3240PE integrated amplifier and a high-quality digital tuner.
Key Features & Technology
Power Envelope (PE): Although the amplifier is officially rated at a modest 40 watts per channel at 8 ohms, the Power Envelope technology provides a huge dynamic headroom of +6 dB. This means that the receiver can deliver up to 160 watts at 8 ohms and 200 watts at 4 or 2 ohms for short musical peaks (transients).
Soft Clipping: A well-known NAD circuit that, when switched on, completes the hard and harmful distortion (clipping) as soon as the amplifier is pushed over its limit. This gives a warmer, tube-like character and protects the tweeters of your speakers.
High-Current Output: Delivers up to 25 amps per channel, allowing it to effortlessly control demanding and low-impedance speakers (up to 2 ohms).
Phono preamplifier: Features an excellent, low-noise MM (Moving Magnet) phono stage for connecting a record player.
Please not that the display doesn’t work rather than everything works perfect.
