Description from the seller
Labbo (dark morph) - Stercorarius parasiticus - 18×32×29 cm
refined and excellent specimen of Labbo (Stercorarius parasiticus), a well-known high-sea predatory seabird. The specimen presents itself in its fascinating and sought-after variant of plumage entirely dark ("dark morph"), mounted in an upright, natural and proud posture.
Plumage and Coloration: The coat displays a uniform chocolate-brown / dark brown tone, with slight and fine bronze hues on the neck and breast. The primary and tail feathers are compact, well groomed, and of intense color.
Anatomical Details: The head features the sturdy and unmistakable hooked beak, typical of marine birds of prey, with a well-defined cere and dark coloration. The glassy dark eyes convey a penetrating and natural expression. The webbed feet and slender marine claws are mounted with anatomical precision.
Exhibition Base: The bird rests on a block reproducing a light beige limestone/cliff rock, creating a perfect color contrast that highlights the subject’s dark plumage.
Condition:
Excellent. Complete plumage, glossy and in perfect preservation condition, free of visible wear.
Notes for the Collector:
Labbo is a pelagic bird of great ornithological interest due to its kleptoparasitic behavior and its elegant daytime forms. Well-preserved dark-morph specimens are particularly appreciated in natural history and marine avifauna art collections for their austere and elegant charm.
