Description from the seller
Vintage enamelled cast iron gratin dish in green and speckled gray – Belgium, 1950s – Saint-Trond (possible attribution)
Rare and original round gratin dish in enamelled cast iron, likely from mid-20th century Belgian production. Its uncommon silhouette is distinguished by two side handles, a triangular integrated spout, and a two-tone glaze combining a bright green exterior with a speckled gray interior.
The thick cast iron and robust design testify to a utensil meant for durable use. This dish was intended for preparing and serving gratins and other cooked dishes.
The underside bears a mark composed of the number 24 and three dots. An attribution to Fonderies et Émailleries de Saint-Trond (FE Belgium) is conceivable, but cannot be confirmed without a clearly identifiable manufacturer mark.
Condition: nice vintage state with signs of use, superficial scratches and a few localized enamel chips, particularly on the edges and rims. The interior also shows light marks. See photographs for an exact assessment of condition.
Dimensions:
Diameter: 24 cm
Length from rim to spout: 27.5 cm
Total length from handle to handle: 29 cm
Dish height: 4 cm
Total height with handles: 6 cm
Weight: approx. 1.5 kg
Era estimated: 1950s
Origin: Possible Belgium
Material: enamelled cast iron
Colors: green exterior, speckled gray interior
Marking: number 24 and three dots (probably the Saint-Trond Belgian foundries)
A vintage kitchen object with a strong industrial character, appealing to collectors of enameled cast iron cookware and fans of utilitarian mid-20th-century design.
Very careful and protective shipping.
Best regards.
