AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A very large soliflore by the hand of François Théodore Legras (1839-1916).
Legras is regarded, together with Gallé, Daum and Lalique, as one of the glass masters of this period.
Hand-blown and hand-painted around 1900. A ground pontil at the bottom is visible, as well as an open air bubble.
The glasswork depicts a forest landscape along the water. Legras drew inspiration for this from the Vosges, where he was born.
Made using several techniques and in a range of green and brown tones. Overall height is 40.5 cm. No cracks, damage or mineral deposits.
However, there is a noticeable misalignment of the neck. This is due to a combination of gravity and too high a temperature during glassblowing (see photos). This imperfection makes this glass piece unique.
The drawing is, albeit in a different form, listed in the catalog: “Legras; Verrerie artistique et populaire française.”
