Rinnovel - Ettore Sottsass - Ice bucket - Mela | 1st edition - Aluminium

Ettore Sottsass for Rinnovel – Rare Champagne Gold "Mela" Apple Ice Bucket (1950s)

An iconic piece of mid-century Italian design, this "Mela" (Apple) ice bucket was designed by legendary architect Ettore Sottsass for Rinnovel in 1953.

This specific lot is an authentic early production ("first edition") piece from the 1950s. It features the definitive cursive "Rinnovel" script logo enclosed in a horizontal oval along with the stylized graphical ice bucket icon stamped directly into the aluminum base, ensuring its vintage pedigree over later iterations.

Unlike more common silver versions, this example is finished in a highly sought-after, elegant champagne gold anodized aluminum body, perfectly paired with a solid brass stem that serves as the lid handle. It remains an essential, playful centerpiece for any high-end mid-century modern collection or bar setup.

• Color: Champagne Gold (exterior) with a gilded interior
• Markings: Authenticated by the early cursive Rinnovel oval base stamp
• Height of the Apple (without the stem): 13.5 cm
• Base Diameter: 7 cm

Good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The anodized finish retains a beautiful sheen, showing minor surface wear/scuffs typical for aluminum items of this era.

• Note on Completeness: Please note that the internal ice drainer grid insert and tongs are not included. The main outer aluminum body, lid, brass stem handle, and insulated inner shell are fully intact and functional as a decorative object.

• The original box and printed manual are not present.
