Description from the seller

Praying Mary – patinated plaster – France – late 19th / early 20th century

Professionally shipped – more than 1000 five-star reviews worldwide.

This understated sculpture depicts Mary with folded hands and a lowered gaze. Her prayerful pose and the heavy cloak align with late medieval depictions of the Virgin, possibly originally belonging to a crucifixion group such as the Vierge de Calvaire.

The sculpture is a museum plaster cast, produced by the Atelier de moulage of the former Musée de Sculpture Comparée in the Trocadéro, Paris. This workshop produced lifelike casts of important European sculptures for museum presentation, education and study.

Height approximately 51 cm; in good overall condition with normal signs of wear; at the bottom there is a metal maker's plate reading “Atelier de moulage du Musée de Sculpture Comparée”.

Please view the photos carefully, they are part of the description.

Shipped with track & trace.
