Saint Anthony of Padua with Child – Ouro Artesania – wood – Spain – c. 1960
Professionally shipped – more than 1000 five-star reviews worldwide.
Beautifully carved wooden sculpture of Saint Anthony of Padua, depicted in Franciscan habit with a belt around the waist. In his left arm he carries the Christ Child, seated on an open book.
The long cloak, wide hood, and folds of the habit are powerfully carved. The wood is finished with a dark translucent patina, so the grain and the carving remain clearly visible.
Made by Ouro Artesania in Spain, a workshop best known for its hand-carved wooden figures. At the bottom stamped “OURO ARTESANIA – MADE IN SPAIN” and numbered 116.
Height: about 30 cm. In good vintage condition with limited age- and use-related wear. The lily that Anthony held in his right hand is missing.
