AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Splendid parade plate / wall plaque in artistic majolica from Albisola.
Manufacture: Giuseppe Mazzotti Traditional and Modern Art Ceramics Factory, Albisola Marina (SV), founded in 1903, later M.G.A. Handwritten mark M.G. + 23 on the back - the typical mark "M.GA in brown under the base" documented for Mazzotti in the early decades of the 1900s.
Technique: Tin-glazed majolica with white tin glaze, decoration entirely hand-painted in blue - the classic white and blue of the old Savona/Albisola that since the 16th century characterizes Ligurian production.
Decoration: Highly undulating and sculpted border in Baroque style rocaille with shells and rocaille scrolls with 6 cartouches featuring marine landscapes. In the center a large historiated cartouche with a mythological scene (Vulcan/Hercules with a female figure and Cupid) - a subject recurring in the 19th-century revival production of Mollica, Cantagalli and Albisola factories.
Dimensions: Diameter 28 cm, height approx. 4-5 cm.
Condition: Good vintage condition with declared flaws visible in the photos - please study photos carefully, they are part of the description:
• A thin capillary crack that has stabilized, running from the rim to the footring on the back (see back photos)
• Small chip with glaze loss on the rim edge of one cartouche, approx. 1 cm
Otherwise glossy glaze, bright colours. Perfect as a wall display / collector's piece. The photos are an integral part of the description.
