Large solid wood tray in tuia with refined multicolour geometric inlay, dating from the 1970s–1980s, measuring 50.5 × 30.5 × 6.8 cm and in good overall condition with light signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Large solid tuya wood tray with refined multicolored geometric inlay – 1970s/1980s
Elegant and scenographic large rectangular tray, produced in the 1970s-1980s in solid tuya wood and precious timbers, enriched by a refined geometric intarsia design of considerable decorative effect.
The top features a rich composition of geometric motifs repeated, obtained by juxtaposing different woods with warm and contrasting tones. Small diamond, square and triangular elements alternate in an elaborate pattern with a fascinating three-dimensional effect, creating a refined play of perspective and depth.
Particularly evocative are the natural grain patterns and the characteristic flame-like figure of tuya burl, which give the surface extraordinary chromatic richness, enhanced by the glossy finish.
The structure, solid and well-proportioned, has raised edges and two elegant perforated side handles, characterized by a shaped and sinuous profile.
A piece that testifies to a taste for decorative cabinetry and Moorish-inspired inlay, reinterpreted in late 20th-century craftsmanship.
Interior design tips
Thanks to its generous dimensions and the refinement of the decoration, the tray is beautifully suited to being used as a decorative element on a large dining table, a sideboard, a console, or a coffee table.
Particularly evocative in classic, eclectic, Mediterranean, or contemporary settings, where the warmth of the wood and the rigor of the geometric composition create a pleasant aesthetic contrast.
