Antique Eduardian-style drop-leaf table in dark mahogany dating from 1850–1900, with wheels, a lower storage shelf, and made in the United Kingdom, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Elegant drop-leaf table with fold-down leaves in the Edwardian style, made of dark mahogany wood with a warm patina, dating from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Its design blends the sober practicality inherited from the English Georgian tradition with the refined simplicity characteristic of Edwardian furniture, conceived to meet the needs of domestic interiors of the period.
Featuring a rectangular top with two side leaves that fold down to significantly extend the usable surface, transforming from a compact piece into a practical side or service table. The leaves are supported by an ingenious system of sliding supports, typical of this type of furniture, ensuring stability and ease of handling. The skirting, with straight and balanced lines, rests on four turned legs of elegant profile, topped with brass and rubber casters, an element that reinforces its function as a serving cart or table for tea, drinks, or hors d’oeuvres.
The bottom part incorporates a wide tray or storage shelf, very useful for tableware, glassware, or service pieces, contributing also to the structural solidity of the piece. The rich grain of the mahogany, highlighted by the dark polished finish, provides visual depth and a distinguished English character.
It is a versatile and decorative piece that preserves all the charm of British domestic furniture from the transitional period between late Victorian times and the Edwardian era, ideal as an auxiliary table, service cart, or support furniture in classic, colonial, or eclectic interiors.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
