Description from the seller
LIGIER JS11 #26 – JACQUES LAFFITE – FORMULA 1 1979
Replica of the legendary Ligier JS11 no. 26 driven by Jacques Laffite during the 1979 Formula One World Championship.
The JS11 was one of the most prominent single-seaters of the groundbreaking ground-effect era, designed by Gérard Ducarouge and equipped with the legendary Ford Cosworth DFV V8 3.0 engine. Its spectacular Ligier Gitanes blue livery makes it one of the most recognizable F1 cars of the late 1970s.
Laffite started the season spectacularly, taking victories at the Argentine and Brazilian Grands Prix, both while at the wheel of No. 26. In Argentina, the Ligier also achieved a historic 1-2, with Laffite first and Patrick Depailler second.
During 1979, Ligier won three times and finished third in the Constructors’ Championship, in a season in which the JS11 proved to be one of the most competitive cars on the grid.
An especially attractive model for collectors of classic Formula 1, both for the historical importance of the JS11 and as the car associated with Jacques Laffite and Ligier’s two first wins in 1979.
