Description from the seller
Letter signed by Eugène de Beauharnais, son of Empress Joséphine and future viceroy of Italy, then a squadron leader commanding the mounted chasseurs of the Guard of the Consuls. The letter is dated 2 Fructidor An X, i.e., 20 August 1802.

Address on the back “To Citizen Emery, Councillor of State, rue de Varenne, in Paris,” with fragment of red wax seal.
