Description from the seller
Frescobaldi – Nipozzano Riserva 2022
Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG
Lot of 6 bottles of 0.75 L
Nipozzano Riserva 2022 is one of Frescobaldi’s historic and most representative wines, produced at Castello Nipozzano, an ancient estate located a few kilometers northeast of Florence.
Frescobaldi defines Nipozzano Riserva as an emblematic wine of the estate and a symbol of the Tuscan viticultural tradition and its bond with the territory.
Castello Nipozzano and Chianti Rufina
The wine is born in the Chianti Rufina area, one of the historical subzones of Chianti, characterized by a hilly environment and climatic conditions that favor wines with good freshness, elegance and aging potential.
Nipozzano Riserva represents Frescobaldi’s classical interpretation of this territory, with Sangiovese as the protagonist accompanied by complementary varieties.
The vintage 2022
The 2022 harvest was characterized by a dry and very hot summer, mitigated by the typical cool breezes of Chianti Rufina. Rain at the end of August and September helped complete the ripening of the different varieties.
Temperature fluctuations also contributed to developing complex aromas and good phenolic concentration, giving rise to a ripe and sunny yet balanced vintage.
Vinification and aging
After harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery and destemmed.
Fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel vessels that are temperature-controlled, followed by maceration. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in steel.
At the end of the year the wine is transferred to barriques, where it continues to mature. A subsequent period of bottle aging completes the journey, allowing the different components of the wine to achieve greater balance and harmony.
Organoleptic characteristics
Nipozzano Riserva 2022 presents a deep and bright ruby red color.
On the nose, notes of red and black fruits emerge, accompanied by fresh citrusy nuances. The bouquet then evolves towards elegant floral notes of violet and rose, completed by a pleasant spicy component.
On the palate it is balanced, harmonious and fresh, with a well-defined fruity and mineral component. The tannic texture is dense yet silky, and the finish is persistent and elegant.
Awards for the 2022 vintage
Nipozzano Riserva 2022 has received good evaluations from the international press:
92/100 – James Suckling
91/100 – Veronelli
90/100 – Wine Spectator
90/100 – Vinous
An additional interesting element is that Nipozzano Riserva 2022 was listed by Wine Spectator at No. 31 in the Top 100 of 2025.
Label, capsule and level as shown in the photographs. The photographs form an integral part of the description of the lot.
