Regoli Polycontrol retinoscopy set, consisting of four graduated rods in a double-book rigid case measuring 32 by 3 by 0.5 cm, with optical glass, produced in the 1970s–1980s, in very good condition and tested and working.
Description from the seller
A fascinating and rare vintage professional set of Regoli for schiascopy (also known as retinoscopy rods or Regoli Polycontrol), historically produced by specialized sector companies (such as Polyoftalmica Italiana or similar excellence in optical instrumentation).
The set consists of four graduated rods, each housed in its shaped compartment inside an elegant rigid book-fold case, perfect for transport. The regoli integrate a series of diopter-progressive lenses enclosed in a solid metal frame measuring 32 x 3 cm.
The instrument is distinguished by the iconic international color code:
• Red: Identifies lenses of negative power (primarily used for diagnosing myopia).
• Green: Identifies lenses of positive power (used for hyperopia).
Two of the regoli also feature supplementary mobile metallic sliders for reading quarter-diopter increments or for quick screening. An ideal lot for both industry professionals and collectors of medical and scientific antiquities, perfect to display in a professional studio or in a wunderkammer.
Excellent overall condition (Used with normal signs of wear on the case. The metal rods are intact, the glass lenses are clean, free of deep scratches or chips that could impair visibility, and the additional sliding mechanisms are perfectly fluid).
• Historical details: The combination of high-density colored plastic handles with the heavy satin-metal frame and the rigid beige velvet-lined case places the manufacture firmly in the industrial medical design of that era.
