Donna Cora Satèn 2022 is one of the flagship Franciacorta millesimati produced by Marchese Antinori – Tenuta Montenisa, in the heart of Franciacorta, near the village of Calino and Lake Iseo.

It is produced from 100% Chardonnay and is released only in vintages deemed particularly favorable. The 2022 vintage was judged by the estate to be of excellent quality, with yields lower than the previous year and grapes characterized by an excellent balance between ripeness and acidity.

Tenuta Montenisa and Marchese Antinori
Tenuta Montenisa is located in the heart of the Franciacorta denomination. The vineyards surrounding the historic Maggi family villa have since 1999 represented the center of Franciacorta production for the Antinori family.

Donna Cora belongs to the prestigious range of Marchese Antinori Millesimato Franciacortas, alongside Contessa Maggi and Conte Aymo: wines produced through a selection of the grapes and reserved for vintages of particular quality.

100% Chardonnay
Donna Cora expresses the characteristics of Chardonnay vinified on its own.
For the 2022 vintage, the Chardonnay vines used had an average age of over 25 years, with deep root systems that allowed the plants to cope effectively with the hot, dry summer.

The 2022 vintage
The winter was mild and characterized by well-distributed rainfall. The mild spring favored regular bud break, while flowering occurred about a week early.
June and July were hot and dry; the rainfall at the end of July rebalanced the vegetative cycle and favored proper ripening.
The harvest began on August 10, 2022, earlier than the historical average, with healthy grapes characterized by an excellent balance between sugars and acidity.

Metodo Classico and aging on the lees
The harvest is carried out strictly by hand.
Whole Chardonnay berries are subjected to gentle pressing; the must obtained from the first press ferment at controlled temperature in stainless steel.
In the spring following harvest, the second fermentation takes place directly in bottle according to the Metodo Classico, followed by a long period of contact with the lees.

For Donna Cora 2022, the disgorgement occurred in February 2025. The official Antinori sheet also specifies that this vintage was completed with a Brut Nature dosage.

Organoleptic characteristics
Donna Cora Satèn 2022 presents a straw-yellow color, accompanied by a creamy mousse and an ultra-fine, persistent perlage, a distinguishing feature of the Satèn style.
On the nose, elegant aromas of white flowers and white-fleshed fruit emerge.
On the palate it is complex and balanced, with a delicate yet well-defined structure. The freshness gives great drinkability, while the finish is savory, elegant, and persistent.

The Satèn style
The Satèn typology represents one of the most elegant expressions of Franciacorta, characterized by a lower bottle pressure compared with traditional sparkling wines and, consequently, a softer and creamier sensation on the palate.

In Donna Cora, this characteristic combines with the purity of Chardonnay and with long lees aging, giving rise to a particularly fine and harmonious Franciacorta.
