Description from the seller
Lisi – Rare miniature sculpture in the shape of a snail in 800 silver
A detailed and refined miniature sculpture featuring a snail, made in 800 silver by the Italian silversmith Lisi, known for collaboration with Buccellati.
The piece shows extremely careful and naturalistic craftsmanship: the snail's body is finely textured to reproduce the animal's surface, with incised and relief-work details, while the large shell is characterized by the typical spiral structure, realized with soft yet well-defined volumes. The two tentacles are particularly successful as well, giving the figure a lively and realistic appearance.
The contrast between the smooth, shiny surfaces of the shell and the more tactile treatment of the body highlights the quality of the execution.
On the base there are several punches, including the silver hallmark “800”, the silversmith's mark, and the signature/mark “LISI”, all photographed in detail.
A small silver article with strong decorative character, suitable as a collection sculpture, objet d'art, or paperweight, particularly interesting for collectors of Italian silver and zoomorphic miniatures.
Silversmith: Lisi
Subject: snail
Material: 800 silver
Origin: Italian
Marks: 800, silversmith's stamp and LISI
Technique: casting and relief work with naturalistic details
The object is presented in good vintage condition, with normal signs of time. It has not undergone aggressive polishing, thus preserving its original character.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the craftsmanship, the state of preservation, and the marks on the base.
