Description from the seller

For sale is an absolute museum-class, one-of-a-kind piece and a legendary work of French culinary craftsmanship—the gigantic, deep copper sauté pan (sauteuse extra-forte) from the iconic Parisian brand E. Dehillerin.
The vessel dates from the turn of the 19th to the 20th century (ca. 1900–1910), as evidenced by the rare early frameless signature: “DEHILLERIN / 18. RUE COQUILLIÈRE / PARIS.”
This is a piece from the so-called Golden Age of French copper, designed for use in palace kitchens or elite restaurants.
Impressive technical specifications (the so-called Behemoth):
• Wall thickness: about 4.8 mm of solid copper (an unusually thick gauge by today’s standards!)
• Weight: up to 10.5 kg
• Internal diameter (stamped on the body): 36 cm (external diameter 37 cm)
• Height of the body: 10 cm (capacity about 10 liters)
• Overall length: 70.5 cm
• Handle: forged iron, 39 cm long, attached with three heavy copper rivets.
Condition:
The piece is 100% original, with beautiful natural patina and traces of old hammering (hammering marks). The interior is traditionally tin-lined (tinned). The bottom is stable. An ideal capital investment for a collector of antique copper kitchen equipment (Vintage French Copper) or a unique accent for a prestigious interior."
