Description from the seller
Inca/Chanca terracotta bottle with twin spouts – 13th to late 16th Century
A pre-Columbian Inca/Chanca bottle with a globular body and two diverging spouts with outward-flaring lips. Its reddish surface exhibits pale deposits, abrasion and a broad dark patch on one side; the mouth edges retain irregularities and small losses. No surviving bridge handle is visible between the spouts. The two necks are clearly separated at their upper ends and give the vessel a distinctive branching silhouette. Their broadly similar forms rise from the same rounded reservoir, without surviving painted figures or elaborate modelled additions on the body. The underside is rounded and comparatively plain in the available view. The darker patch contrasts strongly with the reddish fabric, while the irregular lips and worn surface provide the most visible condition details. No missing handle is reconstructed merely from comparison with other double-spouted vessels.
Material: Terracotta
Dimensions: 15 x 15 cm
Weight: 317 gr
Provenance: Aduired in Germany from an auction House, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
