Good condition from my collection
Baby Sumo from 2009 with accompanying booklet
This Newton's Little Sumo photobook concerns the first edition in this format. Little Sumo contains 394 photos and weighs 5.6 kg. The dimensions are 38 x 27 x 6 cm.
The Helmut Newton SUMO was, in every respect, a gigantic book: it broke records in terms of weight, dimensions and resale value. With a weight of 35.4 kilos, TASCHEN and Helmut Newton created a trailblazing book that in terms of conceptual extravagance as well as technical specifications surpassed anything attempted before by a long shot. In a print run of 10,000 signed and numbered copies, SUMO was soon sold out after publication and quickly multiplied its value. Copies are today found in numerous prestigious collections around the world, including the New York Museum of Modern Art.
The book was carefully revised by June Newton and remains a spectacular homage to the most influential, fascinating and controversial photographer of the 20th century, with hundreds of exquisite images, from his breathtaking fashion shoots to his shimmering nudes, provocative stagings and portraits of celebrities.
