Description from the seller
Red enameled cast oval cocotte with cream interior, made in France by Cousances, a historic manufacturer renowned for cast iron cookware, later integrated into Le Creuset.
This piece is distinguished by its generous silhouette, its two integrated side handles, and the matching lid with a Cousances-stamped knob. Its peculiarity lies notably in its red lid knob, a finish less common than the contrasting handles usually seen.
Enameled cast iron is particularly valued for its ability to absorb and evenly distribute heat. It is perfectly suited for slow-cooked dishes, braises, stews, and family meals, on a gas hob and in the oven, subject to usage recommendations appropriate for the model.
Features:
Brand: Cousances, historic house associated with Le Creuset
Origin: France, marked "Made in France"
Material: enameled cast iron
Exterior color: glossy red
Interior: cream enamel
Shape: oval
Dimensions: 37.5 × 24.5 cm
Casserole capacity height: 11.5 cm
Total height with lid: 16 cm
Total weight: 5.5 kg
Condition: very good general condition for a second-hand cocotte, with signs of use and a few marks on the enamel, particularly on the lid and edges. The cream interior shows a patina from use. The photographs allow precise appraisal of its condition.
Beyond its culinary qualities, this cocotte has the charm of kitchen tools designed to last. Passed down through generations, it evokes those slow-cooked meals that bring the family together and leave unforgettable taste memories.
A beautiful piece of French kitchenware, both functional and decorative, and steeped in history, for enthusiasts of enameled cast iron and collectors of high-quality antique utensils.
Very protective and extremely careful shipping.
Kind regards.
