Description from the seller

Alessi Spa - Crusinallo
originale

Jane Tray, designed by Liu Jiakun (Jiakun Architects), is part of the project (Un)Forbidden City.
It can be laid out for presentation on a table or rolled back up for easy transport. By lightly manipulating the corners, a gentle curvature is obtained; it is also possible to make it take on a number of different shapes (Liu Jia Kun). It can be laid flat on a table, ready for an elegant presentation, or easily folded for convenient transport. The versatility of the design offers unlimited possibilities, limited only by the user's imagination.

For each Jane tray, a unique number is assigned, further highlighting its individuality and craftsmanship. Although officially marketed as an Alessi tray, the multifunctional nature of the object invites users to explore its potential beyond traditional use. It can be rolled up entirely, resembling a compact cylinder, or folded to imitate the appearance of legs. Additionally, the tray can also be positioned vertically, providing a creative space to display or contain various objects such as a vase of flowers or a decorative candle.
Designed by architect Liu Jakun, Jane is a versatile and robust tray, consisting of 26 slats that evoke bamboo supports. Laying it flat gives it the rigid shape of a tray. By adjusting the corners, a slight curvature is obtained and the tray becomes an elegant centerpiece.

Although currently out of production due to its high production costs and complexity, this tray remains a superb example of functional art.
Its construction consists of anodized aluminum bars, which give the object an opulent copper color while ensuring durability. The use of this material was a deliberate choice, imparting the tray with a luxurious aesthetic and a sturdy structure.
