Description from the seller
Zoltán Radnai - Panel - Cloisonné, portrait of a woman in cobalt blue • with Idea label • Hungary • ca. 1987 - Enamel
A fairy-tale portrait of a woman in cloisonné by Zoltán Radnai, with almond-shaped eyes and a headdress of gold, leaves and tulips. Thin copper wires outline each field. The cobalt blue of the background contrasts with the peach of the face and the terracotta of the hair. On the wall, embedded in the black panel, the light naturally draws to the face.
For this object there is also a Buy Now price set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting.
Description:
The enamel measures 21 x 13 cm and is inset in a black wooden panel of 35 x 22 cm. Four copper nails fasten the corners. The face is peach, with a long nose and a small red mouth. The hair falls in terracotta braids with red specks. The body is burgundy with two orange-tomato tulips. White dots form pearls in the headdress.
About the maker:
Zoltán Radnai was born in 1960 in Budapest and learned the basics of art in Kecskemét from painter József Palkó. In 1979 he joined the factory Zománc és Kádgyár, where he remained the enamel artist until the end of the company. This work dates from those factory years. After the revolution he started his own studio.
In interior design:
Fits a Regency Modern, eclectic, boho or retro interior, on the wall of a study or hallway. The cobalt blue adds depth next to wood or brass.
Condition:
Good. Enamel: no flakes or cracks visible. The enamel shines evenly; the cobalt blue fields are intact. Copper edge and nails: undamaged. Panel: light signs of use. Back: a hanging hole at the top, two labels and a white felt pad at the bottom. See the photos.
