Description from the seller
Artemide "Pipe" ceiling/wall lamp - Design by Herzog & de Meuron (Compasso d'Oro 2004)
Description:
Up for auction, an icon of contemporary design: the "Pipe" lamp, produced by the historic Italian company Artemide and designed by the renowned Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron in 2002.
Design and Recognitions:
This lamp is considered an absolute masterpiece of modern illumination and was awarded the prestigious ADI Compasso d'Oro in 2004. The Pipe line represents a perfect fusion of technical innovation, maximum flexibility, and a unique organic aesthetic, making it an essential piece for collectors and design lovers.
Features and Materials:
The distinctive feature of this lamp lies in its sinuous, orientable body. The structure consists of a flexible, articulating stem wrapped in a natural platinic silicone coating (designed to maintain its color and resist yellowing).
The terminal diffuser has a flared form and is made of transparent polycarbonate. Inside it houses a mirrored aluminum reflector with microperforations, which guarantees outstanding luminous emission quality, projecting light in a brilliant but controlled manner. The mounting rose is painted steel.
Functionality:
Thanks to the extreme flexibility of its stem, the lamp can be shaped and oriented at will to direct the light beam where it is most needed. It can be installed either as a ceiling lamp (plafoniera) or as a wall lamp (applique), elegantly adapting to both residential settings and prestigious working environments.
