Description from the seller
Very rare modular bookcase “Onda Quadra” model 817
Produced by Acerbis International in 1988
*Modular bookcase “Onda Quadra” - Models 817*
*Designer: Mario Bellini, 1988*
*Producer: Acerbis International, Italy, late 1980s*
*Very rare - produced in only a handful of pieces*
We are in Bellini’s most mature and experimental period, when he had already won eight Compasso d’Oro awards and was director of Domus, a moment in which the designer explores the concept of architectural and deconstructed shelving. The name “Onda Quadra” derives from the square-wave profile of the upright and the junction system, which allows free, scenographic configurability, typical of the Italian intellectual postmodernism of the late 1980s.
The system is conceived as a domestic architecture: vertical uprights and shelves that interlock without visible screws, creating solid and void volumes with a strong visual impact. A piece that is at once bookcase, sculpture, and wall unit.
