Specimen Cluster Balani Denti di Cane, scientific name Thoracica, from Europe, in good condition, dating to 1970, weight 700 g, dimensions 15 × 22 × 13 cm.
Description from the seller
Large Group of Marine Barnacles (“Dog Teeth”) on an Elegant Vintage Pedestal
Sculptural natural group of large marine barnacles (commonly known as “Dog Teeth”), mounted on a refined vintage-style metal pedestal with an antique flavor.
This piece represents a classic example of a Wunderkammer or natural history cabinet object, perfect for enriching modern interiors, studies, or eclectic collections.
The calcareous cluster stands out for the extraordinary texture of its geometric cavity tessellation and for the natural color variations ranging from chalky white to warm tones of brown, yellow, and reddish hues. The goblet-shaped base, with its polished finish and distinctive patina of time, raises the organic structure, transforming it into a true decorative sculpture.
Dimensions of the cluster alone (without pedestal):
* Height: 15 cm
* Width: 22 cm
* Depth: 13 cm
Pedestal: the shiny metal base is stamped “Broggi Milano,” a historic Italian company founded in Milan in 1818 by Gaetano Broggi, specialized in the production of silverware, cutlery, tableware, and luxury accessories for table, home, and the hotel sector. Dating from the mid-20th century.
Condition:
The object is in overall excellent condition. Being a natural organic element, it shows the classic irregularities and micro-erosions on the edges caused by the sea, which attest to its authenticity and enhance its aesthetic value. The base shows splendid gloss with a light vintage patina.
Careful shipping, protected with ample shock-absorbing packaging material to preserve the integrity of the calcareous edges during transport. The cluster will be shipped separately from the base, on which it will nevertheless fit perfectly when placed.”
