Important carved and gilded wooden frame, with rich foliate decoration and beaded borders.
Spectacular in form and appearance, in Empire style it features a refined cassette-profile with an inner and outer frieze adorned with continuous reliefs.
The frame is characterized by an important multi-order architectural moulding; it presents a smooth central band framed by stylized vegetal motifs and a bead border on the outermost profile, elements typical of the Empire-style decorative repertoire.
Entirely made of solid wood, it presents a bulky, robust construction, not attributable to the light industrial frames of the second half of the twentieth century;
The balanced proportions, stylized leaf decorations, palmettes and continuous motifs of the Empire style together with the warm gilding give the whole a remarkable visual presence, making it ideal for paintings, portraits, prints or mirrors, for homes and galleries.
