AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Two antique Art Nouveau side tables — hand-painted with floral lily motifs — École de Nancy / Émile Gallé style — gold signature "Lerouge Jean 1924"

Hello and warm welcome,

For sale is an exceptional pair of two elegant, hand-painted side tables in the French Art Nouveau style, notable for their delicate design, ornate floral embellishments, and historic character.

The two tables form a harmoniously coordinated pair. At the same time, each piece has its own character and can be used independently as decorative individual furniture.

Design and historical context

Particularly noteworthy are the artistically designed tabletops with their large, hand-painted lily motifs. The finely worked blossoms, buds, and curling leaves unfold across the warm wood surfaces, evoking the floral inlays of French Art Nouveau.

The slim, slightly outward-leaning legs and the open side panels emphasize the light, elegant appearance of the two pieces.

In style, floral design, and periodization, the tables recall the furniture art of the French École de Nancy, especially the works from the Émile Gallé circle. His workshop continued after his death in 1904 until 1931. A direct attribution has not yet been established.
