Description from the seller
This original artwork by Bart Hamelink, entitled Two Crazy Birds, is a playful and minimalist painting where simplicity, humor, and connection come together.
The composition shows two remarkable birds, each with its own character. The black bird on the left has a strikingly large eye, a pointed beak, and three straight feathers on its head. The bright orange bird on the right has a angular body, a large round eye, and a quirky aura.
The powerful combination of black and orange forms a beautiful contrast with the warm, broken white background. Through the simple geometric shapes and the absence of superfluous details, a striking and immediately recognizable composition emerges.
Two Crazy Birds plays with the idea of differences and connectedness. Although the two birds clearly differ in color, shape, and personality, they seem to belong together. The work humorously symbolizes friendship, solidarity, and accepting each other’s oddities.
The intentionally simple forms, clean lines, and playful proportions reflect Hamelink’s recognizable artistic style. The painting combines almost childlike directness with a modern, graphic look.
Two Crazy Birds is a contemporary artwork that, due to its strong color contrast and minimalist composition, sits beautifully in both modern and industrial interiors.

Seller's Story
Hamelink combines contemporary themes with influences from the past and often works in an energetic, expressive style. He draws inspiration from the tradition of artists such as Herman Brood, who was known for his raw, spontaneous approach, as well as Riek van Iersel, who sought a powerful emotional expression in his work.
Hamelink is best known for his paintings and drawings, in which he pushes the boundaries of traditional painting and tackles themes such as identity, culture and social issues. His work can be characterised by a direct, unpolished approach to the medium, which exudes a certain spontaneity and energy. Like Brood and Van Iersel, Hamelink plays with the tension between personal experience and the broader social context, often with a focus on contemporary society.
His style is often raw, unfiltered and full of expression, using powerful colours and dynamic shapes that enhance the urgency of his themes. Bart Hamelink seems to bridge the gap between traditional expressive movements and contemporary art with his work, while at the same time critically reflecting on modern times.
