This professional leveling instrument was used in construction, masonry, civil engineering and surveying to determine height differences and check the horizontality of surfaces. Its automatic system allowed obtaining a horizontal line of sight without complex manual adjustment. Robust metal construction with a hammered gray finish, side optical sight and folding carrying handle. It bears its original plate “Cowley Automatic Level” as well as a French importer label “Forges de Vulcain – 3 rue Saint-Denis, Paris – Imported directly from Great Britain.” A beautiful vintage technical instrument testifying to the evolution of measuring and leveling devices.
