Description from the seller
Vintage West German Fat Lava Ceramic Table Lamp by Walter Gerhards, 1960s
A striking and highly decorative vintage West German Fat Lava ceramic lamp attributed to Walter Gerhards, dating from the 1960s. This sculptural statement piece features an impressive architectural silhouette with two elegant integrated handles, a fluted crown and richly textured ceramic surfaces.
The dramatic combination of dark chocolate-brown and metallic-looking lava glaze, speckled rust-orange accents and vivid red-orange ornamental relief panels creates a spectacular contrast. The pierced decorative details allow the light to shine through beautifully, producing a warm and atmospheric effect when illuminated.
The lamp is offered without a lampshade, allowing the new owner to select a shade that complements their personal taste and interior. Its unusual ceramic base also works beautifully as a standalone decorative object.
The lamp is in solid, sturdy vintage condition, with no cracks. It retains its distinctive original character and decorative appeal.
