Rare Art Deco porcelain ceiling lamp with a hand-blown glass flower cap, white with gilded details, dating to ca. 1925–1935, with a 28 cm diameter, 30 cm height, 2.2 kg weight, of Austrian origin, in good working order.
Description from the seller
Rare Art Deco ceiling lamp – white/gold porcelain with hand-formed flower glass – ca. 1925–1935
Period: ca. 1925–1935
Style: Art Deco / Mid-century style
Material: porcelain, gilded decoration and blown glass
Origin: probably Central Europe; probably Austria?
Quantity: 1
Description
Very decorative and striking Art Deco flower-glass form, made in beautiful white porcelain with richly gold-colored details and a very characteristic, hand-formed glass flower cap.
The porcelain base has an elegant ribbed, lobed profile with gold accents. Around the socket is a large, wavy glass flower shape that fully surrounds the light source. The combination of white porcelain, gilded decoration and the transparent/whitish glass gives the lamp a very decorative appearance.
The design is typical of the interwar period, where geometric Art Deco forms are combined with a more organic, flower-like motif. The lamp is therefore a particularly notable object within the Art Deco period.
The glass components appear hand-formed/hand-blown and show the irregularities typical of artisanal production.
The lamp is equipped with an original/older porcelain socket. Given the age, the electrical installation should be checked by a skilled electrician before the lamp is regularly used.
Condition
Good original vintage/antique condition, with minimal age- and use-related wear. The gilding shows local wear and the underside shows signs of use. The glass appears intact based on the supplied photos.
Wear marks only on the underside, not visible after hanging!
Packed with great care and shipped with mention of Tr&Tr as Fragile item!
