Description from the seller
Leonard McCombe (photos), Bill Richardson (text), People suffer history. The Face of Europe from the Thames to the Vistula 1943-1946, Zürich: Atlantis-Verlag, o.J. [1947], linen with dust jacket, approx. 200 pp. (unpaginated), 28 x 22.2 cm, photogravure, design Heinrich Steiner; Legendary rarity with images of the Second World War and the suffering that this war, like any other, brings. The book has been forgotten by Parr in his canon… but is at least mentioned by Auer.
Condition: Dust jacket with signs of use and aging, on the back a tiny flaw and a somewhat larger one, at the spine top and bottom small defects, on the back of the front of the dust jacket a spot (which is not visible from the front). Edges of the slipcase rubbed. Book: binding clean, both boards slightly bent. The book block is permanently slightly bumped at the top right, the binding is torn in the front flyleaf; flyleaves somewhat wavy (probably production-related). Otherwise a clean copy WITHOUT spots, WITHOUT stamps, WITHOUT inscriptions, NO library or smoker’s copy, NO musty odor, vg
