Orthodox Icon – Mother of God with Child (Kazan / Hodegetria) with Embossed Brass/Copper Oklad (Riza) – Circa 1900

A beautifully detailed Eastern Orthodox icon depicting the Mother of God with the Infant Jesus (Kazan / Hodegetria type). The faces and hands are hand-painted on a wooden panel, overlaid with a richly embossed brass or copper oklad (riza).
The oklad features two prominent radiating nimbuses (halos) surrounding the heads of Mary and Christ, finely detailed drapery, and decorative floral corners.
This piece is a perfect matching pendant to the Christ Pantocrator icon.
