Antique salières from Austria in 800 silver, made by Vienna Hofjuwelier A. D. Hauptmann, dating to 1400–1450, with transparent glass inserts, comprising three salières and three spoons (one spoon not original, the other spoons including a 925 sterling silver spoon from Sheffield) in a box showing age-related wear, salières 3.0 cm in diameter and 3.5 cm high, total gross weight 500 g.
Description from the seller
I am offering 3 antique salieres with original glass inserts and 3 spoons in their original case, made of 800 silver from Vienna. They originate from Vienna and were produced in Austria by the court jeweler A.D. Hauptmann. The creation period is 1880/1890. It is a rare piece that you don’t often find in this condition. The Diana head mark indicates 800 silver. The mark with the Diana head stands for Austria, and the number 3 represents the year 1880/1890.
Of the spoons, one is not original. The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and comes from Sheffield, England. I acquired this during the DM era in Vienna.
The distinctive feature:
In the past, cobalt blue glass was used for such salieres. Here, they have transparent glass inserts, which are rare and intact.
The case shows age-related wear, and the latch at the back is slightly loose, but it closes securely.
The salieres are 3.0 cm in diameter and 3.5 cm high. The spoons are 6.9 cm long.
