Arsenopyrite crystals on a matrix with pyrite and dolomite, from the Trepça Mine in Mitrovica, Kosovo (Republic of Kosovo).
Description from the seller
From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a notable group of crystals on a matrix of arsenopyrite with pyrite, dolomite, plumosite, and quartz from the Trepça Mine in Kosovo.
Moreover, it is characterized by arsenopyrite crystals with a brilliant silvery metallic luster, arranged in well-formed prismatic aggregates and in clear contrast with the golden pyrite crystals, the white rhombohedra of dolomite, the delicate transparent crystals of quartz, and the thin fibrous inclusions of plumosite, elements that enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical significance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that emphasize its natural structure and visual impact.
Arsenopyrite (FeAsS) is the most common arsenic mineral, and its silvery metallic luster comes from the crystal structure rich in metallic bonds; when exposed to air it tends to oxidize, taking on yellowish reflections. The Trepça Mine, in the Mitrovica mining complex, is one of the largest and oldest polymetallic ore deposits in Europe, known since Roman times and intensively exploited in the 20th century for lead, zinc, and silver, from which also come the splendid pyrite crystals and the fine fibrous plumosite, the needle-like variety of Jamesonite.
This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species.
All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except in rare cases always noted in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight shade variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
Shipping is carried out via reliable and selected express couriers, with fast delivery (in many cases 1-2 working days in Europe), tracked and insured shipping and professional and secure packing, as confirmed by customer reviews. Deliveries may also occur the day after payment depending on the destination.
You can accumulate multiple purchases and receive them in a single shipment, even from auctions with different deadlines, simply contact us to arrange the consolidation. For important pieces, direct home delivery by appointment or at major European fairs is also available.
