Description from the seller
Elegant and uncommon oval silver box, made in Spain around 1940–1960 and attributed to the renowned Spanish silversmith Francisco Veiro.
The lid features an elaborate relief decoration with mythological and marine themes: a mermaid seated on a large fish, accompanied by another marine figure, on a background of stylized waves. The composition has a strong sculptural character, with pronounced reliefs and numerous worked details.
The sides are likewise decorated with geometric and ornamental engraved motifs, creating an interesting contrast between the polished silver surfaces and the darkened areas of the reliefs.
The interior presents a gilded finish, a feature especially attractive that also creates an elegant contrast with the exterior in silver.
The piece bears hallmarks of silversmithing, corresponding to its Spanish manufacture and authorship.
