Description from the seller

Combined Set of 6 Limoges Cobalt Blue & Gilt Porcelain Demitasse Cups and Saucers – France – End 19th, early 20th Century

An elegant combined set of six French Limoges porcelain demitasse cups with matching saucers, beautifully decorated in a rich, deep cobalt blue and luxurious gold.

Each cup features a fully gilded interior, an elegant gold-finished handle and a decorative gilt border. Five cups display a delicate geometric pattern around the upper rim, while one cup has a slightly different, wider plain gold border.

The matching saucers are equally refined, with their glossy cobalt blue surfaces framed by broad gilded rims.

French porcelain craftsmanship

Limoges, situated in central France, has been internationally celebrated for its exceptional hard-paste porcelain since the late 18th century.

The porcelain is renowned for its fine quality, durability and suitability for elaborate decorative finishes.

These cups beautifully illustrate the tradition of French luxury tableware, combining the richness of cobalt blue with elegant gilding, a decorative style particularly associated with the Belle Époque and early 20th-century interiors.

Marks and origin
The cups and saucers bear various authentic Limoges marks, including:
Porcelaine de Limoges – Made in France – Décoré Main
The initials JP and CPA
Green circular Limoges France marks
The markings indicate French Limoges porcelain with hand-finished decoration. The exact manufacturer and decorating workshops have not been conclusively identified.
Period: Probably end 19th begin 20th century.

Originally intended for serving strong after-dinner coffee, these small cups are traditionally known as demitasse or mocha cups.

They would have formed part of an elegant coffee service, particularly suitable for formal dining and entertaining guests.

Today, they are equally appealing for serving espresso or small soups or as decorative collector's pieces, adding a sophisticated French touch to a beautifully arranged table, display cabinet or classic interior.

Dimensions (approximate)
Cup height: 5.4 cm
Cup diameter: 5 cm
Saucer diameter: 9 cm
Total weight of the set: 550 g

Condition
Attractive vintage condition with visible minor signs of age and use, particularly to some gilded surfaces.
Please note that one cup has a different gold border, as clearly illustrated in the photographs.

The photographs form an integral part of the description and provide a detailed impression of the condition and decoration.

A charming and decorative French porcelain coffee service, combining the timeless elegance of cobalt blue with the warmth of richly gilded detailing.
