Napoleon III era cobalt blue porcelain vase with gilt-bronze mounts, made in France (Paris), circa 1850–1880, 47 cm high, 40 cm wide, 27 cm deep, in good condition with small signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
An impressive and richly decorated French Napoleon III vase, dating from the second half of the 19th century, combining deep cobalt blue porcelain with elaborate gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts.
The elegant ovoid porcelain body is embellished with a finely modelled gilt-bronze floral garland featuring roses and delicate blossoms.
Particularly striking are the monumental openwork handles, intricately cast with scrolling foliage and ornamental motifs, creating an impressive and harmonious silhouette.
The neck is framed by a richly detailed gilt-bronze foliate border, while the lower section is adorned with sculptural acanthus leaves. The vase rests on a finely decorated socle and an architectural gilt-bronze base.
The intense cobalt blue glaze contrasts beautifully with the warm gilding, highlighting the quality of the bronze craftsmanship and the refined decorative character of the piece.
A fine example of French decorative arts from the Napoleon III period, reflecting the revival of classical and Louis XVI design elements.
