Description from the seller

Rare Artist's Painting Box with Canister "Couleurs Sans Danger" - Carved Wood, Art Nouveau / 1900
Extraordinary and rare painter and watercolourist's case of French manufacture, dating to the Art Nouveau era / early 1900s.
This unique piece is distinguished by the dramatic mechanical four-level pull-out cantina/compartment structure, connected by carved and painted wooden uprights.
The inner lid bears the era's embossed metal plate with the famous inscription "Couleurs Sans Danger", a guarantee of the absence of harmful pigments used by the great historic Parisian color houses.
The case is exceptionally complete and retains much of its original period contents:
I Level: inkwell cups with metal caps, two-tone pencils with a strap, container and glass drawers.
II Level: wooden rulers and French curves, brushes and drawing compasses.
III Level: rich selection of original color/watercolour pans in metallic and gold pans.
IV Level: ceramic palette with colors, ceramic water cup and the original sponge.
Condition: Excellent preservation for its age.
Fluid and well-balanced opening mechanism.
Engraved pierced details and the metal handle are perfectly intact.
Available for hand pickup or careful shipping.
