Description from the seller

Circa 1930 "Verrerie de Bourdieur & Durand" for Joma in Montreuil, Paris.

Art Deco period, around 1920/1930

Magnificent Art Deco JOMA vase in blown glass on a small foot, presenting an elegant pear-shaped form with a tightened neck.

On a delicate clear glass background, slightly satin, unfolds a superb floral decor entirely enamelled and hand-painted, composed of large azure blue stylized flowers with bright yellow centers, deep brown foliage, and fine branches laden with bright yellow wild berries.

The decor stands out for its thick and generous enamelling, particularly perceptible to the touch, which gives a slight relief to the flowers and foliage. The flared then tightened neck, outlined in black and vividly enamelled with a fiery orange, provides a magnificent contrast to the whole.

A very beautiful composition with vibrant colours, perfectly representative of the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s.

Remarkable work of high quality with thick enamel on the flowers, as well as a very fine execution by the glassblower who gave the vase a magnificent geometric and captivating shape. Magnificent artisanal work from the early 20th century.

Vase signed Joma with black enamel in the decor, which is the contraction of the first names of the two owners: Joseph Bourdieu & Max Durand, whose workshop of the "Verrerie de Bourdieur & Durand" was located near Paris in Montreuil.

Beautiful height of 195 mm with a very generous volume, a circumference of up to 470 mm at its widest.

Magnificent example whose series with other vases signed Joma are perfectly referenced and illustrated in the famous and rare authoritative reference work, the great "Dictionnaire des Maîtres Verriers", which lists and classifies all the finest vases of the Art Nouveau to Art Deco periods. See latest photos

In good condition for its great age, with enamel still fresh and thick, displaying pretty colours. Please note just a discreet small firing flaw/air bubble at the base on the foot, quite common in the techniques of artisanal manufacture of the period, with no impact on the overall aesthetics of this magnificent Art Deco piece, which will surely brighten your interior and inspire the admiration of your guests!

DUE TO AN INCREASING NUMBER OF UNPAID LOTS... PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE OF YOUR PURCHASE!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
