Description from the seller
Antique Wallendorf porcelain – Teacup and saucer – Hand-painted purple chinoiserie decor – Thuringia, Germany – ca. 1787–1833
Special antique porcelain teacup with a matching saucer, produced by the German porcelain factory Wallendorf in Thuringia, at the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century.
This refined set is executed in white, lightly ribbed hard-paste porcelain and beautifully hand-painted in purple and manganese-purple tones. The graceful decor consists of blossoms, stylized flowers, fine scrolling, and geometric ornaments, inspired by the historic chinoiserie tradition. The decoration shows similarities with the so-called Japan in Purple.
Both the cup and saucer bear at the base a blue, stylized W mark. This corresponds to historical marks used by Wallendorf between 1787 and 1833.
The cup is 4.5 cm high and 7.7 cm in diameter. The saucer is 2.7 cm high and has a diameter of 13.4 cm.
Total weight: 173 g.
Condition: Mint – exceptionally fine condition, without chips, hairlines, cracks, restorations or other flaws.
A beautifully preserved antique porcelain set with a refined hand-painted decoration and historic appearance. A remarkable collectible for lovers of early German porcelain and European chinoiserie.
Both items are securely packaged for Smart Shipping, sent by registered mail and insured with track and trace."
