Description from the seller
Vintage set of 4 Bookends – Designed by Kai Kristiansen for FM Møbler – Denmark, 1960s – Rosewood & Lacquered Steel
An exceptional set of four original Danish bookends, designed by Kai Kristiansen for Feldballes Møbler in the 1960s.
These bookends embody the essence of Scandinavian Modernism: functional, refined, and perfectly proportioned.
Design & Signature
Kai Kristiansen (b. 1929) is among the leading representatives of Danish mid-century design. Trained under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy, he developed a style in which ergonomics, clean lines, and material expression take center stage.
These bookends display his characteristic formal language:
• Sharp, subtly tapered wooden front
• Warm, vivid rosewood grain
• Minimalist L-shaped base in light gray lacquered steel
• Perfect balance between visual weight and functional stability
The combination of rich rosewood with industrial steel gives the piece a distinctly architectural look — typical of the modernist era of the 1960s.
